Roundhouse Development across Slipper MillpondROUNDHOUSE MEADOW
(Construction of nine detached houses for a developer)

Description of project: The erection of nine mostly four bedroomed detached houses for a developer, close to the Slipper Mill Pond, Emsworth.

Roundhouse MeadowSite history: The site formed part of a larger holding which included the Slipper Mill. The name of the site (Roundhouse Meadow) comes from the existence of a round house that existed on the site. This was built on the foundations of a structure used for the puddling of clay for a local brickworks. When production ceased a house was built. This was demolished many years ago. When construction started the foundations were rediscovered.

Design and planning: Initial planning permission was obtained for four houses, which had the same floor plans, but varied elevations. This made basic construction very straightforward for the developer, but meant that the properties had an individual lookRoundhouse Meadow.

Outcome: The four properties were constructed and planning permission was obtained for a further five houses.
